The lobby of Colony House at 30 East 65th Street, with GRADE New York. 212 built the millwork throughout in rift white oak: slatted panelling that runs the walls and conceals service doors within the run, a ceiling raft above a curved stone-clad reception desk, and a handrail with brass collars following the stair.

Where the schedule was won

The lobby stayed open, so the work happened at night. Slatted panelling, concealed doors and a ceiling raft have to line through as one piece of geometry — set out in the dark, and read in daylight by everyone who passes through it.
